Riedhammer fired up a new tunnel kiln at the Umitz plant of RHI Magnesita in November 2021. As the new kiln with a length of 122 m was built with the innovative Riedhammer lightweight design in prefabricated modules, a very short assembly time was possible. In addition, the kiln’s lightweight construction permits fast changes of the production capacity and of the firing temperatures, thus providing maximum flexibility in the conversion of the temperatures from approx. 1.250°C to 1.550°C required for the various products.
 
The kiln will contribute to an increase of the plant‘s capacity by approx. 25,000 tons per year and to an essential improvement of the plant‘s energy efficiency thanks to the modern energy-optimized Riedhammer lightweight design.
