Riedhammer has received an order from RHI Magnesita, the world market leader for refractory products, for a new tunnel kiln for its Urmitz plant in Germany. RHI Magnesita will be investing 23 million euros over the next two years in the digitization and modernization of its site in Urmitz. With the company's largest investment in Germany, the traditional plant will be expanded and converted to a hub for non-basic refractory products. The comprehensive modernization will contribute to an increase of the production volume and at the same time to a reduction of the energy consumption of the plant by more than ten percent thanks to the Riedhammer tunnel kiln.
The new kiln will be built in lightweight construction with prefabricated modules, which allows a reduced assembly time. In addition, its lightweight design permits faster changes in production capacity and firing temperatures, thus ensuring maximum flexibility for the plant operator. With its ultramodern Siemens PCS7 control system and a control and sensor technology complying with the current standards of Industry 4.0, the kiln will fit perfectly into the highly automated overall concept of the plant.
